Redeeming Scrooge...

November 17, 2016

I am so excited about this year’s Advent Season, I can hardly stand it!!!  Beginning November 27, we will start our “Redeeming Scrooge” worship series with many avenues for you to watch, learn, and worship.  On that first Sunday, Rev. Haemmelmann will begin our seasonal journey with a Sermon entitled, “BahHumbug” initiating the link between the great Dicken’s novel, “A Christmas Carol” and the story/lessons of the Advent Season.  Drama and music will add color to the message as we look at our Old Story of Faith through a fresh set of eyes.

Following worship, we invite everyone to stay and assist in decorating the church for the Christmas Season.  Food, music and fun will be abundant.  Then, for three Sunday evenings, at 6:30 pm, you are invited to view different movie versions of “A Christmas Carol”.  The first will be an original, starring Alistair Sim.  The following week an animated Disney version will be presented for families and children.   And our third Sunday presentation will be “A Christmas Carol” starring, Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.

Child Care will be provided along with popcorn and drinks

Lastly, there will be an accompanying Book Study for this time, using the text entitled, “The Redemption of Scrooge,”  by Matt Rawle.  There will be two opportunities to join in this three week study, one being at 1 pm and the second at 7 pm.   A few slots are still open, so sign up right away.  You can pick a book up at the church office, or at the Welcome Table, Sunday morning.

Staff hopes that this creative series will involve, excite, and inspire all of us as we journey toward Christmas and the joyous birth of the Christ child.  It will be an Advent Celebration like none other.

Rev. Dr. Keith A. Haemmelmann
