As a ministry, Care Givers seeks to provide training in the practical and the theoretical aspects of caregiving. Beside the five weeks of training, much of our education is ongoing, during the monthly sessions.
The ministry seeks to be of assistance to the pastoral team through the spirit of collaboration so that the congregation can be cared for. The ministry also seeks to be user friendly through the use of the team concept. Each team will provide a component of caregiving, without overwhelming the caregiver.
Caregiving is a ministry of the PAG Beach Community Church, and it follows the teachings and commandments of Jesus.
S.O.S. - Supporting Our Spouses: An Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Group
S.O.S. is a support group for people who are taking care of a spouse with dementia in their home. This can be overwhelming and often very lonely for the caregiver. S.O.S. creates an opportunity for the caregiver to not only share his/her feelings, but to also access resources, and receive suggestions on how to manage the exhausting demands of this illness.
The group meets once a month (the 2nd Tuesday from 10:00-11:30 AM) at a private residence in the Driftwood neighborhood. It is open to anyone who is taking care of a spouse or partner with dementia at home. There is a facilitator with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and personal experience in this area.
